Conclude the engagement
This feature is only available with products on the CaseWare Cloud Engagements platform.
Once you finish the fieldwork for your online engagement, your next step is to conclude the engagement.
Prepare the financial statements
You can create a financial statements document for the client where you explain your findings and present a conclusion. The financial statements document is automatically populated with some data as you complete other documents. However, you need to customize the financial statements document for your client.

Review content changes in the financial statements
You can review the changes made to the financial statements content using Review Tools. This includes added, modified and deleted content. The following review tools are available:
New content () - Content that's been added by staff members.
Excluded content () - Content that's been excluded by staff members.
Text area changes () - Modifications made by staff members in text sections that are part of the default content that comes with the product.
Dynamic table changes () - Modifications made by staff members to dynamic tables that are part of the
default contentthat comes with the product.
Overwritten balances () - marks rows with overridden balances.
Balance check () - marks rows that have been compared to each other.
For each area in the financial statement, rows with disagreeing balances are marked with a stop sign () while rows with agreeing balances are marked with a green checkmark ().
To review changes in a financial statements document:
Select Review Tools () at the Document Map.
The Review Tools popup displays.
Note: To help notice and reconcile disagreeing balances, the Review Tools icon displays with a red dot () if there are balance discrepancies identified in the document.
Enable the review tools by selecting the Review Tools toggle.
Choose the tools that you want to view on the page using the check boxes.
Select the Review Tools icon again to close the popup.
Notice how the icon changes to an active state () because you’ve enabled the toggle in Step 2.
The number of changes in each financial statements area displays (if available).
Select an area to review the changes.
Changes in the selected area are marked with the applicable review tool icon.
View and share financial statements
You can use the Open link in new tab or Open link in new window options to view multiple financial statements. The new tab or new window opens with the currently selected area displayed.
You can also share a link to a financial statement or a specific area in a financial statement with other members of the engagement team. For example, you can share a link to the Notes area in your financial statement to request a review from a team member.
When you share the financial statement URL address with your team, they can use the link to open the financial statement.
To share a link to a specific area in the financial statement:
Open the financial statement and go to Document Map.
Select the area that you want to share.
Copy and share the URL address.
The link opens the financial statement with the area you selected in step 2 displayed.
Print the financial statements document
If you require a physical or digital copy of a financial statement, you can print the statement. The Print option converts the document to a PDF format which you can print or save.
To print a financial statement:
Open a financial statement, then go to the Document Map.
Select Settings () | Document Print Settings to review the print settings for the financial statement.
If there are custom print settings for the notes area, page breaks or a document area:
Select Settings () | Notes Print Settings to review the notes area settings.
Select More actions () | Edit Print Settings to review the settings for a document area.
Select More actions () | Print Settings to review the settings for a page break.
Select Print () at the Document Map.
If a bulk print option is available in your product, you’ll find a drop-down at the Print icon (). Select one of the available group of documents to print them together.
Note: If there are text or field placeholders that have not been replaced, you get a warning once you select Print.
The financial statement is converted to a PDF file that displays on a new browser tab.
Archive the engagement
You can download archival engagement information for offline storage.
Download a reference copy
You can download a .zip file containing all of the documents in your engagement’s document manager. Forms and checklists will be in PDF format. Documents that you uploaded to the engagement file are included unchanged.
To download a copy of your engagement:
Select the Information icon () and choose Download reference copy.
A .zip file downloads to the location specified in your browser settings.
Download an XBRL file
If your engagement includes eXtensible Business Reporting Language (XBRL) information, you can download an .xml file containing this information.
To download an XBRL file:
Select the Information icon () and then choose the desired item under XBRL.
An .xml file downloads to the location specified in your browser settings. If there is only one taxonomy and entry point in your engagement file, the available option is Create XBRL document.
